European Food Safety Authority published its reviews of the suspended usage of 3 neonicotinoids insecticides. The EFSA experts confirmed that the usage may represent a risk to wild bees and honey bees. The debate that accompanied the publication of the report focuses on highlighting deadly impact of pesticides showcasing mostly the ecologist organisation and their point of view. PSOR responded presenting the industry standpoint, that has been included in half of the coverage.
In march the PEST Committee of the European Parliament met for the first time in Strasbourg and selected for its Vice-president Mr. Boleslaw Piecha, Member of the European Parliament. Polish media inaccurately called the Committee investigative – underlining the necessity to verify studies, and explain controversy surrounding PPPs, for example glyphosate. The reaction of media clearly points the misapprehension of the essence of the Committee.
